Training before his Gym Battle

Zero had walked out of the Pokemon Center with a fresh smiles on his face as he casually strolled out and gazed in awe at the beauty of Fauna City. "Wow this place sure looks cool thats for sure! I wonder where the Pokemon Gym is!" Zero stumbled across the Fauna City Gym, only to notice that the doors were closed due to a challenge in progress.

"Aww well this sucks...I was ready to challenge the town's Gym Leader and get my first Tohjo League Badge. But I could get some practice in while I wait."

Zero pondered for a moment as he casually sat down on a park bench and eye'd his two Poke Balls.

Kuroi was walking through the town when he stopped and pulled out two pokeballs. He pressed the button on them both as Sona and Kon came out. Sona jumped on Kon's back as he walked beside Ace and Kuroi. "Hmm we need more practice before our gym challenge." He stopped in the middle of town looking around for people to challenge. Ace pointed out one trainer sitting on the bench. Kuroi looked in his direction. "Hey you over there want to have a battle!" He yelled at the man sitting on the bench.

Zero stood up gazing at the young man before him as he nodded in compliance and adjusted his backpack. What a coincidence that another trainer had just come to challenge him to a battle right when he wanted to!

"I'll accept your challenge on one condition. It shall be a 2 on 2 battle only as I only have two Pokemon with me. I'm sure you won't mind that now will you? My Pokemon need the training regardless."

"Sure I believe in fair battles. My pokemon need the training as well." Sona jumped forward in front of Kuroi bouncing on her tail. Kon laid down watching Sona movements. "Ace(Totodile) will not be fighting this fight. I have some other plans for him." Ace sat firm on Kuroi's shoulders looking at the young man in front of him.

Zero cautiously eye'd the man before him,taking notice and learning that his Totodile wasn't going to be participating in the battle and smirked at the man as he brought out his first Poke Ball. "By the way my name is Zero Kanzaki. It should be a pleasure battling you."

Zero picked out his first Pokemon and tossed the Poke Ball out in front of him. It hit the ground with a small bounce as the Pokemon inside popped out. Smirking towards his opponents Aipom.

"Go! Machop! Steady your mind with Focus Energy!

A small,blue,human-like Pokemon popped out of the Poke Ball and let out a proud cry as it flexed it's muscles. "Chop! Machooop!"

The Pokemon,calmed itself quickly and took a deep breath as it pumped itself up for battle.

"Kuroi Yai. Sona use Swift!" Kuroi knew he had the disadvantage, but if he played his cards right they can win. Sona nodded before bouncing off her tail slashing it at Machop sending a flurry of stars. Kuroi was planning on using Sona speed against Machop to win this thing.

Zero was puzzled as to why his opponent would pit a normal type Pokemon against a Fighting type like Machop,thinking this over briefly he assumed his opponent must have either skill or a well-thought out plan inside their head as he quickly took notice of the stars being flung towards Machop and called out to him.

"Machop,it's using Swift! Focus Energy! Steady your mind,close your eyes and feeling it out to try and dodge the attack as best as you can!"

Machop closed it's eyes and inhaled deeply as it used it's focused mind to try and feel out where each star would precisely strike at him. After a moment passed Machop kept it's eyes closed and began bobbing and leaning to the side in order to evade the majority of the blows. The final star however brushed against Machop's right arm and pushed him back slightly for minor damage as it open it's eyes again.

"Sona use Double Hit!" Sona charged at Machop as her tail began to grew purple. Kuroi was doing exactly what he wanted to. He was going to strike fast and hard. But he could not let Sona stay in too close or she could get knocked out. He watched her as she neared Machop she swung her tail at him.

Zero attentively watched the Aipom's movements and observed it getting closer and closer to Machop,just what Zero wanted it to do in the first place. Considering the type advantage, Machop just needed to land a deceisive blow or two on his opponent, to knock the Aipom out. Zero stood there patiently and observed the battle before him and waited for the opponent to get close and strike at Machop.

"Machop brace yourself for the oncoming attacks! Guard yourself and then strike with Karate Chop after your opponent lands the blows!"

Machop crossed it's arms over it's face and upper body intending to brace itself for the oncoming Double Hit. As Aipom's tail smacked into Machop twice, it winced in pain for a second and it's left forearm began to glow a faint blue color. Knowing Aipom would be at close range for a moment after that attack,Machop used the small window of opportunity to swing it's arm in a wide arc,intending to smash Aipom squarely on it's head.

Sona watched as the Machop hit her with Karate Chop. Kuroi winced at the super effective attack. He knew Sona could not stand another one of those hits. "Hey I know it hurt, shake it off and get back in this." Sona stood up shaking but shook herself to regain her confidence. "Swift again!" Sona swiped her tail sending a flurry of stars at Machop.

Zero smirked confidently as he watched his Machop land a powerful blow against his opponent. Both Pokemon and Trainer nodded to each other in happiness and pride as they steadied themselves for the next course of action from the opponent.

"Stay on your ground Machop,we may have the type advantage in terms of typing but that Aipom is still faster than us and it can hit fairly hard as well! Charge through that Swift attack and brace yourself for the attack,rush through it and strike it again with a Karate Chop!"

"Machop Chop!"

The Pokemon called out with a cry of pride as he ran forward as quickly as it's legs could carry it forward,wincing slightly in pain with each star that smacked against it, Machop was taking a fair beating out there from these blows but it had enough fight left in it to survive. Panting a bit from the blows it thrusted forward towards Aipom,this time aimming it's Karate Chop at it's tail.

Kuroi watched as Machop was going to use Karate Chop again as it ran through the stars. "Sona use Double Hit to meet his Karate Chop." Sona tail grew purple as she swung it twice at the Karate Chop. The clash sounded like thunder. Kuroi only watched as the two attacks met each other.

Zero watched patiently as the two attacks collided into each other with heavy force. You could even hear a loud boom upon impact as a large cloud of dust engulfed the surrounding area for a few moments. The area grew still for a few seconds as the dust had finally cleared as Zero gazed at the two Pokemon. Machop was still standing,although it was now panting heavily,and clutching it's left arm in pain as if it hurt,still the Pokemon was just barely standing,as it smiled at Zero.

"Machop stay on your guard now...Your getting worn out over there. Catch your breath with Focus Energy."

" "C....Chop"

Machop's cry was weak but it still stood there,as it inhaled deeply and fixated it's gaze toward Kuroi...readying itself for the next potential blow from his opponent.

He watched as the dust had settled. Kuroi saw Machop still standing as Sona was lying on the ground knocked out. He was proud that she held up to someone who outmatched her. He took out her pokeball and pressed the button as the red beam took her in. "Thanks you did your best. Kon your turn." Kon walked up to Machop and fell right in front of him. Kuroi grinned at what Kon was doing.

Zero could only stare with a wide eye'd grin, that could clearly say"What the hell is this guy doing?" He nodded to Machop to need on the defense,motioning and gesturing with his hand for Machop to take a couple steps back as both Pokemon and Trainer stared at the Deerling.

"Um...Is your Pokemon ok? It's looking like it's either sick or you never took it to the Pokemon Center."

Zero once again nodded and signaled to Machop to steady itself with another Focus Energy. In compliance the Pokemon stepped steadily back panting,heavily as it gathered it's breath,gasping a little as it tried to steady it's mind and prepare for the next attack.

He looked in Zero's direction and grinned widely. "Now!" Kon perked up and fired a cheap shot at Machop. Kuroi knew what Faint Attack does, it is sort of a bait move. He was planning on using it anyway since Machop was already injured from his fight with Sona. Now Kuroi hoped Kon could battle back and take down two in a row.

Zero noticed as the Deerling quickly stood up and was ready to swiftly charge towards Machop for a swift blow onto it to finish it off. Machop was already fairly wounded from it's battle with Aipom so Zero had to thinking quickly as he shouted out.

"Machop,hang in there try to attack it with a Karate Chop and hold your ground!"

Machop was panting as it raised it's hurt left arm and tried to swing at Deerling with a Karate Chop,however it also got nailed squarely in the stomach by a Faint Attack.Type wise it was a light blow to Machop but that light blow was still painful after being worn out by Aipom. Machop was clenching it's left arm and kneeling on one leg as it glared at the Deerling.

Kuroi looked at the injured Machop before looking at his trainer. "You would risk your pokemon getting severely get injured in order to get stronger. Fine your dumb mistake. Double Kick!" Kon legs glowed sliver as it started kicking at Machop. Kuroi knew Zero was being risky. But oh well it is his fault.

"Brace yourself once more Machop,tire him out a little bit...Focus Energy once more!"

Machop took a deep inhale,trying to brace itself for the next incoming blow,Zero's real strategy was to tired out Deerling a little bit for his real threat to it, Yanma. Machop steadily took both kick to the gut and smirked at Zero as he finally fell to the ground and fainted from exhaustion. Machop tried his best and finally couldn't take it no more,he was done for the match.

"Good work Machop,you did a real great job stalling for time buddy. But now it's time for you to rest. Go! Yanma!"

Zero grabed his second Poke Ball as he tossed it out in front of him with a sly grin,knowing this Pokemon would have the type advantage over his opponent. The Poke Ball bounced on the ground and out came a large,red Dragonfly-like pokemon that flew about rapidly in the air.

"Hmm this could be hard. Hitting a flying type that is faster than me." Kuroi was going to have to figure out a strategy quickly. He got as he saw Yanma fly around in a circle. Kon rubbed his foot in the ground showing he was ready to fight. Kuroi agreed with him on it. "Tackle!" Kon charged at Yanma before jumping in the air leading with its head.

Zero smirked,his Yanma although haven't received much training from him yet,was lively and energetic. It was able to fight on even grounds with his Machop and it was quite agile as well. Zero smirked as he thought up his first choice of action against the Deerling.

"Yanma! Confound him with Double Team!"

Yanma,let out a shrieking cry before suddenly dashing side to side in place, moving rapidly with such speed,it begun to create clone-like illusions of itself in the surrounding area...till there were now 10 Yanma...1 Real and 9 fakes.

"There is one thing that give the real one away. Kon stand still and smell for the real one then use Double Kick." Kona closed it eyes as it walked around the circle trying to find the real one. Kuroi knew was he was doing when he had Kon leap at Yanma, he wanted Kon to pick up the scent of Yanma in case something like this happened.

Zero watched attentively as the Deerling scanned the areas and reared itself ready for another attack. Yanma and it's clones were staring attentively, so he thought of what course of action to take...He figured he'd try to keep his distance in the air.

"Yanma! Use Sonic Boom!"

Yanma and it's clones all flew up a little bit higher as they steadliy began flapping their wings very rapidly,almost appearing as if they were vibrating from the sheer speed of it. Moments later blades of condensed air were fired off towards Deerling's position. All Yanma's fired off a Sonic Boom however,the fake ones disipated upon contact.

Kuroi watched as all the clones and the real one fired Sonicboom. "Crap!" Kon took hits from all the Sonicboom as dust surrounded it. Kuroi really did not know what to do. He could not see if it was still alive or if it had fainted. He just stood there watching, and waiting to see what has happened to Kon.

OOC:Only the real Sonicboom actually caused damage you know.

Zero smirked confidently upon this sight,his strategy had worked as he was quite proud of his newly caught Yanma's fighting abilities.He nodded to his Yanma as he glanced over at the Deerling,and then to Kuroi.

"Yanma! Charge at it with Wing Attack now! No more playing around!"

Yanma's wings began to glow faintly as all the clones reared back a bit along with it. The Pokemon flapped it's wings rapidly a few more times before diving forwards for the Deerling with it's wings outstretched.
